Religious minorities…Reality and truth

2/6/2008

Sayyed Nazeely

On 16 May 2008 newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat published an article by writer Amir Tahry which discussed the tragedy of the Uighur Muslims under the headline, “the Forgotten People of China”.

It is the Muslims of China and not Tibetans who are most excluded and banished from the human spirit and most deprived of their human rights according to the standards discussed by the United Nations and international civil society organisations. It is known that the Muslims of Uighur live in an area that used to be called “East Turkestan”. Islam entered it early on, and they were powerful, obstinate and of pure character.

They are of Turkish origins and under the pressure of Chinese murder and terrorisation many Muslim tribes fled to central Asia, Afghanistan and Iran. Small groups stayed to wage war, and they are the reason why China was unable to take control over the region until the middle of the 1960s.

The Chinese frequently attacked this Muslim people and killed millions of them. In 1863 more than one million Uighur Muslims were killed. More than a million Muslims were also killed in the clashes of 1949 when the Chinese Communist regime led by Mao Zedong took over and the province’s independence was abrogated and it was forcibly incorporated into the Republic of China and the following took place:

1. The province was cleared of its Muslim inhabitants who were distributed in other provinces so that they formed a minority in these new areas.

2. An attempt to crush the Muslim’s identity and restrict their acts of devotion and signs of Islam. Mosques were destroyed and schools demolished so that new generations would be formed completely removed from Islam.

3. The Cultural Revolution led by Mao Zedong in the late 1960s was merely a fire whose flames burnt any display of Islam on the pretext of democracy and freedom. How many barbaric crimes have been committed in their name of these false claims across the course of history and until the present day in the era of the American emperor “Bush” in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Somalia…etc

Amnesty International published a document in 1999 while Canadian MPs prepared another in 1998 accusing “Peking” of fabricating terrorism charges against the Muslim “Uighur” people and falsely accusing them of being “Islamist fundamentalists” and “Islamist terrorists” and “separatists”. The document affirmed that the “Uighur” were not responsible for any of these terrorist acts. Rather, it is them that are living under dangerous and terrorising domination by the Chinese government. “They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise” (Surah Al-Borooj, 8)

This Muslim minority is living under the control of an atheist, communist regime that deprives it of its rights to education, health, dignified work and to participate in managing its own affairs, as well as depriving it of the modern, democratic life that most advanced countries boast about while concealing a simmering hatred of Islam and Muslims and who work on pulling it out at the roots.

Islam protects minority rights

Yes, we say it proudly because over the course of the centuries only Islam has protected minority rights, preserved their humanity and respected their independence, both in the past and in the modern age. Because they are brothers to Muslims and have the same rights and duties, there is no objection to their acts of devotion, rituals, churches and houses of worship, nor their systems, codes, laws, crosses or priests. “Allâh does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion nor drove you out of your homes. Verily, Allâh loves those who deal with equity”. (Surah el-Mumtahina, 8) “It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that Allâh forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the Zâlimûn (wrong-doers those who disobey Allâh)” (Surah el-Mumtahina, 9)

This is the true understanding and practical application of real “citizenship”, commendable neighbourliness and fair and kind treatment.

Far removed from that, in fact in contradiction to it, is the insanity, nonsense and chaos called for by many so-called secularists, atheists, leftists and individuals who are supposedly calling for progress and science and the vestiges of Communists who altered their “compass” and “loyalty” towards America when the Communist Party became bankrupt and ended after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

These individuals represent the hypocrites’ army in Muslim countries. “They hide within themselves what they dare not reveal to you” (Surah Aal-Imran, extract from verse 154).

They know very well that any minority living under Islamic Sharia rule is without doubt a lucky minority, and that its members enjoy privileges and rights, security and wellbeing and respect and freedom – what no Muslim minority living in the finest modern democracy in Europe or America enjoys.

Our Coptic brothers in Egypt know that their safety and security lies in Islamic Sharia, and that Sharia has been applied for more than thirteen centuries without oppression, repression, coercion or aggression against their blood, wealth, honour or beliefs.

Some of them feel that there is religious discrimination and hold conferences in Egypt and abroad, and spend suspect millions on them, and recruit various media agencies for PR purposes and to make a din. And gifts and presents rain down on the self-declared leftists and intellectuals who attend them. They try to throw oil on the fire of strife not out of love for our Coptic brothers or a concern for their interests and rights as they claim, but ultimately out of hatred for Islam and Sharia after they sold themselves to the devil.

The question here poses itself: does “citizenship” and “non-discrimination” mean wiping out the identity of the majority of inhabitants and separating between practicing their religion and applying their Sharia in a way that doesn’t harm the rights or feelings of our brothers in the homeland?!! Is there a Muslim minority anywhere in the world able to govern the majority and prevent it from practicing its religion and say to them don’t practice the religion you believe in because it constitutes aggression against our existence or our rights!!

The situation of some Muslim minorities in the world:

– India has the world’s largest Muslim minority in the world. It numbers more than 200 million and constitutes 20% of the population. Despite living in a relatively democratic society they are subject to murder, arson and destruction every now and again and cannot freely practice their religious rites such as slaughtering cows during Eid Al-Adha; anyone who does so has committed an unforgiveable sin and is attacked by Hindus, the cow worshippers. They kill whoever the kill and burn their houses before withdrawing in complete safety without being subject to any kind of punishment. Where is citizenship here? And where is democracy? And where are so-called human rights?!!

– Since Megellan and the Nazarenes* set foot in the Philippines the Muslims have left their rich land and been forced onto the overworked, barren land. Up until this day they haven’t been content with harassing Muslims, natives of this country (even the capital’s name Manila is a corruption of its Islamic name, aman Allah, “security of God”) and the state’s organised armies, supported by American military aid lay siege to the Muslims in the extreme south of the Philippine islands and refuse to legitimise their existence or accord them self-rule.

–       In “Thailand” and “Myanmar” there are a large number of Muslims who embraced Islam centuries ago and who are now controlled by “Buddhists” treating them to a taste of exclusion, abuse and deprivation of freedom and citizenship rights, education and administrative positions in the managing of their own affairs. They are considered second or third class citizens and have no international Islamic backers to defend them against this oppression.

–       In Ethiopia Muslims form the majority (65% of the population) and yet they are completely deprived of their political rights. They don’t have a minister in power nor anyone in a key position. They do not attend state schools which are in the hands of Nazarenes. Even Kottabs are put under the strain of taxes by the state so that they close and are forbidden from receiving financial aid from abroad. It is known that the Ethiopian army is currently killing Muslims in Somalia on behalf of America.

–       And do you remember “Zanzibar” and “Tanganyika” where a third of the Muslim population were ethnically cleansed and the two entities were combined into one state governed by Nazarenes under the name “Tanzania”!!

–       In France, in the free world: there are calls to expel Muslims, and they and their property are fair game in the most brutal way, even though the enemies [sic “Number” is probably what was meant here] of Muslims stands at seven million Muslims deprived of all their rights.

And so…

We cannot continue to the end of this course because we are running out of breath, our tears are falling and our hearts are shaken by pain, grief and sadness.

But we can say:

  • Muslim minorities everywhere in the world, rather the majority of them, suffer oppression, dominion, subjugation and deprivation from the most basic human rights in a way that no one could imagine and not in conformity with any standards or protocol.
  • Non-Muslim minorities in all Muslim countries, and in particular our Coptic brothers in Egypt, enjoy all their rights, respect, kindness and justice. And it is them who are most aware of this and the wise among them comprehend this very well.
  • Beware of secularists, leftists and those who call for creative chaos, and of the strife people, who don’t necessarily love Copts but rather hate Islam and loathe Sharia and eschew a world governed by morals, virtue, justice and equity.

* النصارى el-nasaara loosely translated as “of Nazareth”, is an arguably linguistically neutral term which has acquired a derogatory meaning by the fact that firstly, Egyptian Christians rarely, if ever, use the term to describe themselves and secondly, it has come to be associated with sectarian rhetoric used by some Islamists. We have chosen to translate the term as “Nazarenes”.

Pope Shenouda raises case against Dr. Zaghloul El-Naggar because of his rejection of Zakaria Boutros’ slurs against Islam!!

6/1/2008

Ikhwan Online

Pope Shenouda III, the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark, together with 22 lawyers including Naguib Gobrail (head of the Egyptian Union for Human Rights and the legal advisor of the Coptic Church in Egypt) have raised a case against Dr. Zaghloul El-Naggar (head of the Chairman of Committee of Scientific Notions in the Qur’an in the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs) because of an appearance by him on Orbit’s “Al-Qahira Al-Youm” channel when he described Zakaria Boutros – who insulted the Prophet Mohamed PBUH – as “the big devil”!!!

During his appearance, Dr. El-Naggar also demanded that definitive action be taken against Zakaria Boutros and his continual claims about Islam and Muslims, and emphasised [the importance of] refuting his falsehoods and his slander of the Prophet’s companions and the fundamentals of the Islamic religion.

On his opinion of the case raised by Pope Shenouda, Dr El-Naggar denied the charges levelled against him, describing them as blind fanaticism that drives people to insult religion and the Prophet of Islam – PBUH – and his companions and raise cases against people who stand up against this mockery as he described it, pointing out that Zakaria Boutros betrayed his country and religion and the robes he wears when he is was insolent about Islam.

He added, “Boutros sold himself to the US intelligence services when he took upon himself to insult Islam publicly on a satellite channel funded from unknown sources, especially given that he provokes this criticism when he is not in the country”!

Dr. Zaghloul El-Naggar made clear that, “the insolence of some Copts against the master of created things Mohamed – PBUH – is a result of the authorities in Egypt supporting them unreservedly on the pretext of protecting the country from strife. They have forgotten that what they are doing is strife itself”.

This is Baha’ism

4/5/2008

Sayed Nezeily

A short time ago, some people tried to organize a conference called “Egyptians Against Discrimination” at the Journalists’ Syndicate, and some members of the Syndicate Committee resisted the hosting of this conference at the Syndicate, on the grounds that the organizers, Egyptians of One Nation, were a shady organization, in addition to the idea of the attendance of Baha’is, who are rejected on the grounds that Baha’ism constitutes apostasy from Islam. There was a huge outcry throughout the Syndicate as a result, which caused the conference organizers to hold it at the Tagamu Party Headquarters, where the head of the Syndicate went to offer them his apologies.

The latter act angered many of the writers on the grounds that it conflicts with freedom of opinion, and constitutes political thuggery, blackmail, arm-twisting and implies blasphemy towards Islam.

Regardless of the correctness of either party’s positions, for each has its own logic, reasoning and philosophical underpinning, and of the resolutions issued by the conference later on, which called for striking at the fundamentals of the nation, dismantling its foundations, and emptying it of its identity and character, making  of it a farce with neither colour nor flavour. It is enough to say that the conference focuses on the amendment of Article 2 of the Constitution, which states that “The official religion of the state is Islam and sharia is the main source of legislation” and other recommendations we have heard repeated in recent years at Coptic conferences here and abroad.

What concerns us here is to expose Baha’ism as a fabricated sect, called for by the Mirza Hussein Ali, called “Al Baha’a”. He was born in the village of Nur, near Maznedran, Iran in 1817. This Al Baha’a met a purported prophet named Al Bab and became one of his followers until his death. He struggled over the succession to Al Bab with his brother, Sobh-al-Zal, until they parted both physically and mentally.

The roots of Baha’ism are the ideas advocated by Al Bab, a Shia named the Mirza Ali Mohammed Al Shirazy who alighted on the idea of the Bab [Gate] to the Mahdi Al Montazar [Awaited Guided One]. The atmosphere of Iran at that time was ready to accept the idea of the Mahdi’s appearance. One of their frequent prayers was “Lord, the waiting has lengthened, the unbelievers mock us, and it is hard for us to wait.” He claimed to be a prophet and called for the supersession of the Islamic sharia, and that preoccupation with prayer, fasting and zakat [giving] and other practices called for by Mohammed were all nonsense, false and only to be indulged in by the ignorant and uninformed.

The call of Al Bab was not free of the spread of iniquity and of the communal sharing of women between men. The so-called “Qurat-Al-Ain”, one of the disciples of Al Bab, preached at a conference calling on them:  “Do not conceal your beauty from your loved ones, for there is no going back now, no limits, no restrictions, no obligations and no repulsions, take your share of this life for there is nothing after death.”

This Al Bab claimed that the message he carried was more eloquent than the Quran, and its dictates superseded those of the Quran. He did not content himself with claiming to be a prophet but elevated himself above the master of messengers himself, peace be upon him, and even had the effrontery to claim to see nothing but God in himself, blaspheming grossly by saying “I have surpassed all names. What time has passed since my appearance has passed, and I have waited until all others have faded and none remains but my face, and I know it is not mine but a mirror, because only God can be seen in me.” All these perverse ideas were absorbed by and enthralled Hussein Ali Nuri, and he chose for himself the title “Al Baha’a”.

The call of Al Baha’a went through several stages:

First:

He claimed to be Christ the son of Mary.

Second:

He claimed that divine revelation had been made to him, and that God had not sealed the prophets and had revealed to him the Book of Al Aqdas, where he said, “Think not that We have revealed unto you a mere code of laws. Nay, rather, We have unsealed the choice Wine with the fingers of might and power. To this beareth witness that which the Pen of Revelation hath revealed. Meditate upon this, O men of insight!”

Third:

The fraud even professed divinity, until he no longer addressed others except as the Lord on High: “O peoples of the world! Give ear unto the call of Him Who is the Lord of Names, Who proclaimeth unto you from His habitation in the Most Great Prison: “Verily, no God is there but Me, the Powerful, the Mighty…”etc., which are words that could only come from a madman, sick of heart and soul.

Key Baha’i teachings:

  • It permitted followers to read books and learn science after the Bab forbade it.
  • It made Magus holy day “Nawrouz” a holy day for his followers: “We have designated for you Naw-Rúz as a feast.”
  • It specified that a third of a deceased’s estate devolve to the House of Justice, i.e. to the Baha’i state, and banned women and girls from ownership of the home, including its furnishings, and made them for men alone.
  • It permitted the ownership of gold and silver vessels.
  • It commanded its followers to bathe only in unused water and forbid the use of water storage tanks of beasts.
  • It rebuked those who demanded liberty and condemned it as the vilest of vices, and disparaged the minds of those who seek it or call for it: “Liberty causeth man to overstep the bounds of propriety, and to infringe on the dignity of his station. It debaseth him to the level of extreme depravity and wickedness.”

The sources of Bab and Baha’i thought

  • There are those who believe that Babism and Baha’ism drew from Buddhist delusions or Brahmin myths, particularly since the latter two ancient faiths believe in reincarnation, as does Baha’ism.
  • Sources include “Zoroastrianism”, which deifies and sanctifies human beings.
  • There is also a connection between Baha’i ideas and corrupted Judaism, and destructive Free-masonism.
  • It cannot be denied that “Al-Batneya” represents one of the roots of Baha’i thought, in that it rests on the rejection of Islamic sharia and alleging prophesy, false interpretation, and bias towards the enemies of Islam.
  • Baha’ism pays tribute to Jewish thought, and calls for the gathering of Jews in Palestine. Bahaullah – Abbas – called “Abdul Baha’a”, went to Switzerland to attend Zionist conferences including the Basel Congress in 1911.

A general look at the tenets of Baha’ism, its thought and worship practices:

  1. That God is embodied in some of his creations, and was embodied in “Al Bab” and “Al Baha’a”.
  2. Belief in the reincarnation of creatures and that reward or punishment falls on the soul alone.
  3. The belief that all religions are true, and that the Torah and the Bible have not been corrupted, and that all faiths are united into one faith, Baha’ism.
  4. They believe in the prophesy of Buddha, Confucius, Brahma, Zoroaster, and like wise men of India, China and Persia.
  5. The believe, in agreement with Nazerenes, in the crucifixion of Christ.
  6. The deny the miracles performed by the prophets, the reality of angels and djinn, and the existence of heaven or hell.
  7. They forbid women from veiling, permit pleasures, and advocate communal women and property.
  8. They say that the Bab faith supersedes Mohammed’s sharia.
  9. Resurrection Day shall come when the Baha’a appears, and their prayer is directed at Akka, Palestine, instead of the Grand Mosque, Mecca.
  10. Prayer is performed three times a day, with three prostrations each, morning, noon and night, and ablutions are performed with rose water, or if unavailable, by repeating “in the name of God, most pure” five times.
  11. Group prayer is not permitted except when praying over the dead.
  12. They regard the number 19 as sacred and have made 19 months in the year, each of which lasts 19 days.

Thus:

This is Baha’ism, which enemies of Islam attempt to consider a religion, which it is not. They organize shady conferences here and there to spread its teachings, and they spend large sums of money to proselytize for it.

Islamic scholars have confronted it, as have all Islamic learning centres, and all have regarded it as a destructive, misguided deviation.

The Egyptian judiciary has not numbered it among the religions and has not recognized it, and has not allowed them to state it or designate it as a religion in official documents such as national identification cards and birth certificates, and to be satisfied with leaving that that box empty by placing a dash in it.

Some may find it surprising to bring op this matter at this point, but we venture to say that that Islam and Muslims are fighting on many and varied fronts, and we must be vigilant and fully aware of all the methods, including their thought and deviousness: “And thus do We detail the verses, and [thus] the way of the criminals will become evident.” Al An’am, 55.
